WINTER

FEBRUARY

Has been a very mixed month weather-wise.  We've had our sunglasses on and shirt sleeves, through to thick thermals and 4 layers battling the snow and ice. We have been out and about in the garden on the  good days, to see what needs attention.

Plants of the Month: Snowdrops and Iris Reticulata

Here's afew things we have been doing in our own, and our client gardens that you can do too;

1. Dig the soil over, or turn any compost (if it's not too wet).

2. Tidy up any debris on beds and the lawn; branches, twigs and remaining leaves.

3. Weed difficult spaces like rockeries now, before the weeds get a hold.

4. Prune your roses and wisteria.  Cut back trees, hedges, shrubs and ivy whilst they are dormant.

5. Plant hardy evergreens if you're planning a new border so they can get established.

6. Buy your seeds and compost so you're ready for Spring sowing.  We are currently sowing sweet peas and cosmos.
